The municipality of Eemsdelta is expanding the number of reception places for Ukrainian refugees. This happens in the Menterne residential complex in Wagenborgen.

Approximately 44 Ukrainian refugees are currently staying in part of the building in Wagenborgen. The owner of the building has expressed willingness to also rent out the rest of the building for the reception of Ukrainian refugees. After a short renovation, 25 additional Ukrainians can be accommodated.

The reception in Menterne is going well, the municipality reports in a press release. ‘Since the start of the shelter there have been no problems in or around the shelter. There is great social support among villagers for the reception of displaced persons from Ukraine. The children/young people go to language class/school during the day and a large number of the adults are at work.’

In addition to the Menterne residential complex, Ukrainian refugees are accommodated in the Luingaborg in Bierum. The total number of shelter places will increase from 150 to 175.
