Bony Macaroni and Snow Coats

Bony Macaroni (photo) and Snow Coats go on tour together and come to play their catchy indie pop songs in Simplon. Bony Macaroni is known for their undisguised millennial sorrow and sincere life questions, packaged in fast and hard-played songs. Within a year they played exactly 52 shows through the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium from scratch. They’ve been working hard over the past year on a debut album full of potentially addictive earworms.

Snow Coats, from Arnhem, makes indie pop inspired by emo and folk. They have toured Europe and the UK as support acts for bands such as Pinegrove, Ratboys, Remember Sports and Future Teens and recently signed a recording contract with the English label Alcopop! Records. Their new album If it wasn’t me, I would’ve called it funny , released in September last year, was recorded during the 2021 lockdowns in the rehearsal space in Arnhem. For the album, the band collaborated with American producer Joe Reinhart (known for Beach Bunny, Hop Along and Modern Baseball).

Groningen – Simplon, Fri 8.45 pm, 13 euros

Under the skin of Talitha Nawijn

Talitha Nawijn takes visitors into her performance Under my skin into the lives of people from the Bible. She does this by putting herself in their shoes. Sometimes moving, raw, or liberating, but always honest and recognizable. Nawijn comes together with a pianist who accompanies her and gives the performance musical wings.

Nawijn is at home in many markets; from singing to coaching people with their voice, from conducting to writing songs and stories. She says: “I am just as happy with communicating creatively through songs and stories, as I am with coaching others to get the best out of their voice and performance.”

Grootegast – Good Shepherd Church, Fri 8 p.m., free
