The Lions World Cup camp group grew by six players, The Ice Hockey Federation informs.

Goalkeeper related to the composition Roope Taponen (HIFK), defenders Mikko Lehtonen (Zurich Lions) and Petteri Lindbohm (Frölunda) and attackers Juho Lammikko (Zürich Lions), Iiro Pakarinen (HIFK) and Tommi Tikka (Lynx).

The strengthened lion group will face Sweden twice in Umeå in the third week of the World Cup camp. The matches will be played on Thursday and Saturday next week.

– We are now in the middle of the camp and, as in previous springs, the composition lives as the camp progresses. We are now getting good reinforcements to join the team, while the games will get tougher next week, Leijonien GM Jere Lehtinen commented in the announcement.

After the Sweden matches, the Lions will camp for one more week. At that time, the Czech EHT tournament will be played in Brno.

In the Czech Republic, NHL stars Patrik Laine and Olli Määttä, as well as Sakari Manninen, a well-known scorer from previous games, will also wear Finland’s jersey.

The Ice Hockey World Cup home games start on May 12 in Tampere.
