More money for Berlin’s baths – that was overdue

You can’t say that Berlin’s bathing establishments are swimming in money. But now she expects a rain of money. A comment from BZ editor Oliver Ohmann.

The state treasury is donating 152 million euros for urgently needed renovation and construction work. That was overdue. Many baths are on the last hole.

More and more often we are footing the bill for senseless, ruinous austerity measures of the past. Schools, means of transport and, last but not least, housing.

You have to invest and take care of and preserve what you have. But if it’s all about profit and savings potential – in terms of personnel and material – then at some point the tiles will fall off the edge of the pool. Saving needs to be learned!
