The World Cup medals will be competed in Slovenia next year.

Iivo Niskanen skied a great season. KIMMO BRANDT / AOP

In the period 2021–22, Finland was fourth in the international World Cup comparison after Norway, Sweden and Russia.

– It’s a pretty good achievement, you see Reijo JylhäIltalehti’s ski expert.

– Finland is the third best for women and the fourth best for men.

For men, Norway, Russia and France were ahead, for women Sweden and Norway.

– The tour already had good results. The Olympics went well, as did the end of the World Cup, Jylhä lists.

– The conduct and timing of the season were well controlled.

Jylhä praises the “polished” coaching teams and literally glows maintenance.

– We were at the forefront of maintenance all the time. I don’t remember there ever being any steady action.

Super tip trio

Niskaset and Krista Pärmäkoski are Finland’s sharpest earners. Iivo Niskanen was third in the overall World Cup, Pärmäkoski fourth and Kerttu Niskanen seventh.

Behind the top trio Joni Mäki, Perttu Hyvärinen, Lauri Vuorinen, Jasmin Kähärä, Jasmi Joensuu and Johanna Matintalo were able to perform well.

With Niskanen, Mäki took Olympic silver in the double sprint and second in the sprint in Falun on Friday. Matintalo sprinted third in Oberstdorf at the turn of the year.

– There are other new, potential future successes behind it. For example Remi Lindholm raised his level again in the last race (14th in Falun 15 km).

In a year, World Cup medals will be competed in Planica, Slovenia.

– The track profiles of next year’s World Championships are popular with Finns, a bit similar to those at the Olympics, Jylhä knows.

– You can set hard goals for next year as well.
