More feeling is required

BZ editor comments on Berlin’s handling of war refugees from Ukraine.

We Germans are seen as diligent. We have a law for everything and if not, then at least an ordinance.

In the days, weeks and months of the refugee crisis, this love of order often benefits us. We can help quickly – many thousands of people who come to us every day.

But sometimes the obsession with order gets in the way. As in the case of the 120 refugees who are sent to Tegel from a hostel.

Here you could have shown more feeling, i.e. tact. In this case, why can’t an employee from Tegel come to the hostel? We Germans lack this feeling.

But I would like to emphasize that, overall, I think we are doing our job very well at the moment. We help where we can and we will have many friends in the hopefully free Ukraine in the future!
