More fatal accidents involving cyclists in…

There were at least 59 fatal traffic accidents in the coastal province last year. This is evident from provisional figures that the cabinet of Governor Carl Decaluwé distributed on Friday based on official reports. In 2022 there were 65.

These accidents killed 66 people last year, 4 percent fewer than in 2022. A third of the accidents involved a cyclist, which is a slight increase.

An e-bike was involved nine times, a normal bicycle eight times, a racing bike twice, a mountain bike twice and an e-quad once. It is striking that two cases involved accidents in which both parties involved were cyclists.
