More EU citizens refused to register in Belgium for social benefits

In recent years, more and more registrations have been refused in Belgium from citizens of the European Union who presumably settle in our country in order to benefit from social benefits. In 2020 there were 1,638 refusals, in 2021 already 2,320. The number of files of non-EU citizens who try to register with false European identity documents in Belgian municipalities has also tripled between 2018 and 2021, to 421 files. The cabinet of State Secretary for Asylum and Migration Nicole De Moor (CD&V) announced this on Saturday.
