In the splendid city there is not even a small change of customs taking place, with the tradition that is slowly opening up to the modern world.
Until today, in fact, there female presence on the boats was very rare. However, over a hundred girls have entered the channels in recent months.
“Fie a throttle”: the company changes
Aside from the change in society, this new presence also depends on the birth in February 2021 of “Fie a throttle”“Girls at the helm”, an amateur sports association, led by women.
The aim is to give the right knowledge and confidence to drive a boat in the Venice lagoon. And after two years of running in, this summer the association got an increasing number of registrations of which 80% women.
