Christmas and the preparation for it belong to many people’s December. One of the most important preparations is often the Christmas table and its gifts.

– Regarding red wines, it is estimated that sales will double compared to the normal period.
In terms of their price range, more valuable wines are bought for the Christmas table than usual. The product communication manager emphasizes that the price category is determined individually. However, it is usual for the products to be slightly more expensive.
– In general, we invest a little more at Christmas. It depends on the person, how many euros they put into it, says Vilkuna.
Traditional and classic wine countries are represented. Italy and France are at the top, but Chile holds the number one spot.
Sales of sparkling wines and champagne, on the other hand, triple during Christmas.
– We clearly want to invest in the whole, if we don’t want mulled wine as an aperitif, we invest in a higher quality sparkling wine or champagne.
Alko’s customers often ask which wines go best with their Christmas table setting.
– We are often asked, for example, which wine is suitable for ham. At the same time, sweeter boxes are also taken into account, says Vilkuna.
Iltalehti listed the cheapest and most expensive wines in Alko’s selection. Prices are based online store at the stated prices. All wines are 0.75 liters in size.
Red wines
The cheapest red wine in Alko’s online store is Spanish Don Guide 2022. The wine is described as juicy and jammy. Medium-bodied, medium-tannic, lingonberry, cranberry, currant and raspberry. Price 7.19 euros.
