There were 691 proceedings in Berlin last year for anti-Semitic crimes. A comment from BZ reporter Julian Loevenich.

691 cases in which people were discriminated against because of their belief. 691 cases in which people had to fear for their safety because of their faith. 691 cases in which an entire religious community has been defamed – by people who have apparently lost any moral sensitivity.

Particularly alarming: the rapid increase! In 2019 there were still 386 procedures. Even that was 386 too many.

But the numbers give cause for concern: the coming years will not be less.

It is all the more important to understand why people fall victim to this hatred – and then to take consistent action against it.
