Moped rider injured after Heiloo collision, both drivers possibly under the influence

A moped rider was injured in an accident this afternoon at Frederica’s Hof in Heiloo. The driver crashed into a van while crossing. Both men were found to be under the influence of narcotics after a breath and saliva test.

The accident happened around half past twelve this afternoon. The moped rider had priority while crossing, but the van driver overlooked the man.

Both men had positive breath and saliva tests. “A blood test must show whether they were actually under the influence,” the police explain.

Arrested

The driver of the bus was arrested for driving under the influence. If the results are positive, the moped rider, who is currently still in hospital with unknown injuries, may also be arrested later.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
