Mook en Middelaar must get more affordable housing, especially for young people. In addition to the project south of Molenhoek with 250 homes, construction is also required in the centers of Middelaar and Mook.
This is stated in the coalition agreement that Village Grouping Pouwels (DGP), VVD and PvdA signed on Wednesday. It has been given the title ‘Building Together’.
Housing obligation
In addition to more homes, the new coalition also wants to investigate whether there could be an obligation for owners of houses to actually live in them and not rent them out to third parties. It is expected that this will make more homes available for the local residents.
No new policy has been agreed in the new coalition agreement because the financial resources are lacking. Mook en Middelaar also has to deal with structurally insufficient income due to insufficient financing from the government, it has been concluded.

taxes
It has also been agreed that municipal taxes will increase by a maximum of the inflation correction, that subsidies to associations will be spared for the time being and that reclassification is not an issue.
The three parties have also committed to promoting tourism and raising its quality to a higher level. “Because tourism plays a major role in the local economy,” according to the coalition agreement.
Prevention
Prevention to promote health is also included, for example by encouraging more exercise and a healthier lifestyle. Just like being alert to preventing debts from arising.
‘No road through railway zone’
There will also be no new road through the railway zone, according to the agreement of DGP, VVD and PvdA. That zone will be designated nature. The traffic problems on site are solved in a different way. The three parties emphasize that there is no question of a boarded-up coalition agreement. They believe that parties should be given the opportunity to profile themselves.
Workgroup
In addition, they say it is impossible to make detailed long-term choices in a period when the crisis seems to be taking place at a rapid pace. There will also be a working group that will look into a more effective way of meeting and involving residents more in decision-making.
