There will be a voluntary monthly fee for Facebook and Instagram for those who do not want to give permission for the collection of information required by targeted ads. With the solution, Meta meets the requirements of the European Union and can continue to operate in the EU.

We told you earlier in Octoberhow social media giant Meta is considering offering a monthly subscription to European users who do not consent to the collection of their data to serve personalized ads.
Now we have received more information about Meta’s plans. The company announces that it will bring EU users the opportunity to pay a monthly fee for Facebook and Instagram in exchange for a completely ad-free user experience.
The monthly payment system will be introduced in November.
What changes?
Facebook and Instagram can continue to be used for free, but then the user will see targeted ads. That is, exactly, as it has been until now, if you have not turned off ad tracking separately.
If a user who wants to get rid of ads places their order on a computer, the price is 9.99 euros per month. If, on the other hand, you place the order with an IOS or Android phone, the price is 12.99 euros per month, because Apple and Google take a slice of every payment.
Initially, ads can be removed from both Facebook and Instagram with a single monthly fee, but from March 1, 2024, the price will jump to 6 or 8 euros per month, depending on where you order, if you want to keep ads out of both services.
