Month of action against earthquake policy in Groningen | NOW

The Groninger Gasberaad, the Groninger Soil Movement, Sandra Beckerman and Chris Garrit – the initiators who initiated the Torch Walk in the city at the beginning of this year – are organizing an action month from 16 August. This is because the Torchlight has not brought about enough change. The initiators demand a safe and stress-free living environment for all Groningen residents. Generous compensation, a ‘not words but deeds’ policy and turning off the Groningen gas tap as soon as possible are necessary for this.

The initiators are not conducting this campaign alone, but are asking as many Groningen residents as possible to join. During the action month, nine meetings will be organized in the earthquake zone, with themes such as health, entrepreneurship in an earthquake zone, cultural heritage, damage and reinforcement and the phasing out of gas production. Everyone is welcome to join the meetings, and to contribute his or her ideas and solutions within this theme. Finally, an action will be organized on 16 September at the Vismarkt in Groningen. On that day, a package of requirements will be jointly presented to policymakers.

More information will follow in the near future on the websites of the Groninger Soil Movement and the Groninger Gasberaad.
