No win on Friday evening for Martijn Kaars on behalf of Helmond Sport against Jong AZ. The attacker from Monnickendam saw his team lose 3-1, but he did score his first goal for the Brabant club. “It was a liberation and a good feeling.”
Martijn Kaars’ goal in the first half meant the equalizer against Jong AZ. Given the game picture, both teams were evenly matched, but Jong AZ still took the points to Noord-Holland in the final phase.
FC Volendam

Now after two rounds of play, the counter for Candle is at one hit, there should have been a few more. Last week, the Monnickendammer also had the necessary opportunities against NAC and against Jong AZ he was very close to a second goal after a spectacular bicycle kick.
Ambitious Helmond Sport
Candle is one of the many new faces at Helmond Sport. Fifteen new players came to the Brabant club this summer. In addition, the player budget has been pumped up to 1.8 million euros and chairman Philippe van Esch said this summer that the club wants to promote to the premier league within three years. Those are quite ambitious if you look at recent achievements. Last season Helmond Sport finished as number twenty and therefore last in the first division.
