Monkeypox also found in Denmark | Abroad

Health authorities do not expect a major monkeypox outbreak in Denmark. “But we are alert and are monitoring the situation closely,” the Ministry of Health said.

The virus is being diagnosed in more and more countries, including last week in the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the United States and Australia. Normally, the virus only occurs in Central and West Africa.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday that people who have been in contact with people who already show symptoms of the disease are most likely to become infected. The WHO wants to come up with more guidelines for healthcare workers this week.
