It had a ‘great impact’ on Monique Westenberg to suddenly have to put aside her wish to have children when André Hazes left her. “We were in the middle of the process,” the 44-year-old told magazine Beau Mondewhich will be released tomorrow.
Hazes left Westenberg early last year, shortly after he proposed to her. He almost immediately found a new love, Sarah van Soelen, with whom he had a relationship for several months. The situation meant an abrupt end to Monique’s desire to have children. “It has had a big impact on me to suddenly have to put it next to me, because we were in the middle of the process when André left.”
She is now at peace with the fact that it will remain with one son, André junior. “I am very grateful for that. That little one and I have so much fun together. He is such a lovely, cheerful, funny and inquisitive child. I now really notice that he is getting bigger and I can have conversations with him, which is very pleasant. In addition, I have my two dogs, which are also my children. And who knows, I might meet a nice man who is a father himself,” she says in the magazine.
New love
She also says that she and Hazes no longer get together, but in the Hazes saga nothing is ever excluded. Anyway, Westenberg hopes that she and André will stay together, even if new loves are involved.
“As I’ve seen with my parents and their new partners – I want the same for our son. André and I will be together forever, we will be grandparents of the same grandchildren. How nice is it that you can interact with each other in this way?”
