Monique Smit jumps completely out of her Volendam skin because of the performance of Erik Mouthaan in the talk show Op1. “I turned him off… And then that big smile of his!”
The talk show Op1 had Breunis van de Weerd at the table last night, the SGP mayor of Nunspeet. He received strong criticism during the corona pandemic for not being vaccinated because of his religious beliefs. In the meantime, the polarization in society has receded somewhat, Breunis notes. At the table at Op1 he still received fierce criticism.
Erik Mouthaan critical
Fellow table guest Erik Mouthaan finds it irresponsible that Breunis as mayor has not had a vaccine put in place. “Can you do your job as mayor if you are unvaccinated?”
According to Erik, it is actually not acceptable. “You also have to stop by to congratulate people who have been married for fifty years? And then you stand there with your germs unvaccinated talking to older vulnerable people. Is that tenable?” said the RTL Nieuws correspondent.
‘I have been tested every day’
Breunis thinks he has never been a threat. Apart from the fact that bacilli play no role in the spread of the coronavirus – a virus is not a bacteria – he states that he has been tested every day: “We had the opportunity to test at the time. I’ve been to the test lane pretty much every day for weeks to get tested.”
Erik: “Don’t you think it’s too risky to deal with your citizens while you’re unvaccinated?”
Breunis: “I think that I was safer because I was tested every day.”
“Vaccine is safer!”
Erik disagrees. “Well, a vaccine is safer than a test, because it can only show up later, of course. You can test negative, but still test positive a day later.”
Op1 host Tijs van den Brink: “But you can also be vaccinated and still get infected. Certainly in a later phase that happened a lot.”
Erik: “Yes, but the chances of that happening are very small.”
Breunis: “No, that just happened. You have no guarantee that you cannot be sick yourself and infect others at that moment.”
Monique Smit angry
Monique Smit sat in front of the tube and exploded completely. “Couple…. Stop selling bullshit! We all know better by now ? #erikmouthaan,” she tweeted directly.
Actually, out of principle, she doesn’t watch Op1, not for two years. “But accidentally got stuck,” she says. “Energy straight down, unbelievable.”
Entrepreneur Hans van Tellingen tweets: “Erik Mouthaan reacts in a stigmatizing way to a mayor who has decided not to be vaccinated, while Erik himself claims that you cannot be contagious if you are vaccinated (which is the case). Bad atmosphere at Op1. And let the mayor finish.”
Big smile
Monique completely agrees with Hans. “I turned him off, and then that big smile of his.. No one else who spoke to him at the table while they all know better by now, I think that’s just as bad.”
Her coronasceptic buddy Tim Douwsma then also comes into play: “I was attacked a lot at Op1 because I asked questions about the collateral damage. Taken to the studio under false prescriptions. Why isn’t Mouthaan dealt with when he spreads disinformation?”
