The training encourages the Valencian vice president to “move forward” after her accusation for allegedly protecting her ex-husband in the case of abuse of a minor under guardianship
The executive council of Initiative-Commitmentgathered in an extraordinary way this Saturday, has shown “reasoned support” for Monica Oltra and his family and has encouraged him to “keep going” in her task as Vice President and Minister for Equality and Inclusive Policies.
The coalition has held this meeting after the judicial accusation of Oltra for the management of the case of abuse of her ex-husband to a minor under guardianship and after announcing this Friday at a press conference that he ruled out resigning.
According to the training in a statement, “the presumption of innocence is a fundamental democratic conquest on which any democratic system is based. To violate this presumption is to question the essence of democracy and the constitution.”
He points out that the complaint against Oltra “is the result of a campaign of the extreme right subsidized by large multinationals with a clear political intent” and add that “as is public, throughout these seven years of governments with Compromís it has been a common practice to damage our reputation and intimidate our militancy“.
“Our firmness in defending democratic guarantees is vital in the midst of the drift of anti-politics and punitive populism that facilitates, as we have seen in other cases, the war of the law against left-wing political representatives,” he adds.
The formation considers that the vice president of the Autonomous Council “he has given plenty of explanations repeatedly both in the parliamentary sphere and to the media about the facts that now impute him, and has always shown his willingness to fully collaborate with the administration of justice”.
“Transparency is, without a doubt, their usual practice“, they affirm to add that, subsequently, the other thirteen accused persons “have individually ratified that they always acted freely based on their professional criteria.”
At this point, “we also show our public recognition to the professionalism of both the Valencian civil servants and the different professionals of non-profit entities”, says Initiative-Compromís in the statement.
“Reasonably and affectionately, the members of this party know Mónica Oltra, both forr his brilliant political career in defense of the most noble causes as well as for his enormous personal value”, they underline.
They add that “precisely because of her strong personality and her constant political struggle, she is once again persecuted by those who resist change. A change made up of small irreversible revolutions that have been made possible by her firm and courageous leadership.”
“For all this, in addition to the support, we encourage her to continue advocating and developing courageous policies that change the lives of people in our country. His continuity is not a personal matter, in fact we are aware of the hard sacrifices that we ask of him again, but of democratic defense”, they highlight.
