Top sports presenter Monica Lierhaus (52) will soon be back on German television. She was hired by RTL and is supposed to report on the Special Olympics, among other things.
This was announced by program manager Stephan Schmitter in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine”. Schmitter: “We are planning various projects in the sports sector with her. A first highlight will be her commitment to the Special Olympics during our next “Inclusion” theme week.” He praised her as an “extraordinary woman and a very good journalist”.
It’s the TV comeback of the year!
In 2020, on the occasion of her 50th birthday, she had actually declared her career in front of the camera to be over. Now the former TV darling will return in front of the camera. Schmitter: “It’s nice to see that she really wants to return to the camera for us.”
Looking back: From 2004 to 2009 she moderated the “Sportschau” on ARD. She also reported on the Tour de France and two Summer Olympics and Winter Games in 2006.
In January 2009 the turning point in her life. She had to undergo brain surgery to remove an aneurysm. There were complications, artificial coma. Her speech center and movement skills were affected.
After two years, she returned to the spotlight at the Golden Camera awards. Now the comeback.
