Yolanda Diaz already has candidates to join the eventual coalition government. And among them, two of the political figures closest to the leader, such as the leader of Más Madrid, Monica Garcia, and the former mayor of Barcelona and leader of the commons, Ada Colau. The acting vice president wants these two profiles in the Council of Ministers, whom she has supported from the beginning of his solo journey, who were at Díaz’s first act in Valencia, two years ago, and accompanied him at the launch of Sumar last April. The negotiations with the PSOEstill in the preliminary phase, will decide the definitive composition of the bobbin lace that today is the distribution of ministries.
Sumar has claimed four areas of Government, one less than Unidas Podemos currently has, due to portfolio reduction. Two of them are more or less insured, as is the case of Ministry of Laborwhich will continue in the hands of Yolanda Díaz, and Social Rightss, now occupied by Ione Belarra and with Nacho Álvarez, current Secretary of State of the same department, as the main candidate to succeed him.
The rest of the matters that have been transferred to the PSOE are pending negotiations, which last week advanced programmatically but are still initial in terms of the Government’s organizational chart. Díaz’s people take it for granted that They will obtain three ministries, but they advance that they will seek to have a room, proposing different possible options.
Among the most difficult issues to address in the negotiations is the Ministry of Equalitywhose battle is about to be fought after the socialists have shown interest in recovering the portfolio after closing the door on Irene Montero continuing to lead.
The left coalition wants maintain this bastion, especially symbolic on the left, considering that a socialist profile could represent a setback in feminist matters. Yolanda Díaz’s insistence on maintaining this department will also play an asset in the conversations to fit the rest of the Government puzzle together.
Health, for García
One of the ministries that Yolanda Díaz wants to incorporate into the Sumar quota is Health, now in the hands of the socialists. This department has few powers, as they are transferred to the autonomous communities, and in the PSOE they are not closed to this transferwhich would fall on the leader of Más Madrid, Monica Garcia. The leader, leader of the opposition to Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Madrid Assembly, has focused a large part of her speech on the health field, and has opened a front on this matter to the regional executive.
A doctor by profession and with national projection, García is in good harmony with Díaz. The leaders They addressed the possibility of the Madrid-born woman occupying this portfolio in a meeting two weeks ago, on September 19, at the Ministry of Labor. The Galician is favorable to this option, positively assessing the profile of the Madrid native, although her appointment is at the expense of the final distribution of ministries.
Más Madrid’s request comes in a very specific context, after two years supporting unconditionally to the Galician style, and after being left out of the distribution of spokespersons in the Congress of Deputies. A situation that they now want to see compensated in the Government’s organizational chart.
In the last days, Mónica García has already defended the need to “widen” the organization and expand its sphere of influence to the entire national territory. A task to which he has committed himself “in the first person.” “We are going further to continue being that benchmark of progress in Madrid and that benchmark of progress in Spain“, noted García at the opening of the Más Madrid Congress last Friday, where he showed his intention to “defend the interests of the people of Madrid while at the same time We lend our shoulder in the first person for our country“. The statement makes special sense as it is Yolanda Díaz’s main candidate to lead the Health portfolio.
Housing and environmentalism
Another of the areas that Yolanda Díaz wants to add to the Council of Ministers is housing, a competence now integrated into Transport, and which she wants to elevate to the category of ministry to put Ada Colau, one of her main political supporters, in charge, who He has put his organization, the Comuns, at the service of the Galician project. This department, although it has a high symbolic level, would also have few powers, which could be supplied including green areas, related to energy efficiency or sustainability. This appendix would give rise to one of Sumar’s programmatic priorities, such as the environmentalism.
Not in vain have those of Díaz demanded a Decarbonization areain the form of a State Secretariat in the Ministry of Energy Transition of Teresa Ribera, although they admit that the mixed government formula – with officials from different parties coexisting in the same ministry – is an extreme that the PSOE is reluctant to accept. It would therefore be in Housing where they could be assigned the green skills that Sumar demands.
Ada Colau is an ambivalent profile that could well lead the housing area, such as Equality or Social Rights

Colau is one of the figures that the second vice president wants to take to Madridand considers it a ambivalent figure, that would fit perfectly in terms of housing, but that it is also a firm option to occupy other areas such as Equality either Social rightsthe latter in case of declining the first option of Nacho Álvarez, who has shown his intention to leave politics.
Colau’s fate, however, will largely depend on the next steps in Barcelona politics, where the current mayor Jaume Collboni can give entry to the commons in local government; negotiations that take place in parallel to the conversations with the PSOE at the national level.
