A money transporter was attacked in Wedding on Monday afternoon. The police are investigating with high pressure, but so far have little clues. According to an investigator, professionals were at work.

As far as we know, the car was on the premises of the Virchow Clinic on Nordstraße shortly after 4 p.m. when a masked stranger suddenly approached it. He held out an object to the driver, according to BZ information a hand grenade. He threatened the driver with death if he did not open the side door of the van.

When the security officer complied with the request, another masked man appeared, got into the vehicle and took several cash boxes. The men then jumped into an anthracite-colored Audi. Apparently they then drove from Nordstraße via Ostring and broke through a barrier and an iron gate there. Then they sped off along Amrumer Straße in the direction of Moabit.

As it turned out in the course of the investigation, the license plates of the Audi A3 had been stolen in advance – a check showed that they belong to a Mini Cooper.

The 38-year-old suffered a slight shock but refused medical treatment. The investigation is still in its infancy. Because according to a police spokeswoman, there are no descriptions of the two perpetrators. There are also no indications of a possible dialect and possible masking.

The security company involved is responsible for collecting proceeds from grocery stores citywide. The money transporter already had some of that on board. The threatened driver’s colleague was in the clinic building at the time of the robbery to collect the proceeds from the snack machines.
