Iltalehti’s editors go through six issues that emerged from the hearing of the Vastaamo accused.
The Vastaamo criminal case has been processed in the Länsi-Uusimaa district court since October. On Friday and Monday in court, the defense and prosecutors were able to examine Aleksanteri Kivimäki, accused of more than 30,000 crimes.
During the hearing, the prosecutors told about the additional investigation carried out by the Central Criminal Police (KRP). While investigating extortion, KRP made a fake purchase, on the basis of which it believes that funds extorted from Vastamo’s victims have been recirculated to Kivimäki’s bank account through a loophole. Kivimäki denies that the unspecified funds that appeared in his account came from extortion.
Iltalehti’s crime and justice reporter Joonas Alanne and digital editor Ville Järveläinen followed Kivimäki’s two-day consultation and compiled six interesting points that emerged during the consultation.
The prosecutor seeks a 7-year prison sentence for Kivimäki (formerly Julius Kivimäki) for, among other things, aggravated data breach and aggravated blackmail. Kivimäki denies being the author of the data breach or extortionist.
