Mohammed saves others from the lonely battle he himself had to fight

Mohammed’s grandfather comes to the Netherlands as a guest worker. Because he chooses to settle in an environment where only Dutch people live, Mohammed notices from birth that he is lagging behind the children around him. That makes for a lonely battle. Now he assists young people who find themselves in a similar situation, so that their search is a little less alone.

And he is successful. The fact that he has also had the experiences of the young people himself makes him a positive role model for them. He took two of those young men with him to the recording of ‘Warriors’: Sabr and Samir. They serve as an example of the effect of Mohammed’s method and to allow them to gain a new experience in an environment that is new to them. Maybe next year one of them will share his positive story with us.

Mohammed is one of our ‘Warriors’. These are inspiring people from North Holland who have converted their experiences into a positive contribution to society. With this series, which we record in Ru Paré, a house for the neighborhood in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, we give these fighters a platform to let that story be heard.
