Ulft – “Soon he will be here again with a vest as a bend guard to steer a club race in the right direction,” says chairman Bjorn Riewald of the Doetinchem cycling association RTV De Zwaluwen. He is talking about none other than Ulftenaar Koen Bouwman, the first Dutchman to win the mountain jersey in the Giro. Gijs Leemreize, another rider from Achterhoek, has also made an indelible impression in recent weeks.
