Moderna Products moves into new headquarters in Izegem

Every day, approximately one hundred thousand products are shipped out of Modern Products. To efficiently stack the stock, there is now a fully automatic high-bay warehouse with space for 12,500 pallets. The new factory also means room for more machines to keep up with demand, and almost energy neutral.

“First and foremost, we switched to machines that are either hybrid or electric. To cover this consumption, we installed 6000 solar panels. That means that on an afternoon in the summer we are completely energy neutral and we average thirty percent of can generate our energy,” says CEO Bart Bonte.

Plastic from blue bag

The company uses plastic as a raw material, but in the long term that must be 100 percent recycled material. “We are currently in phase two of the plan to switch to recycled material. Then we will use material from the blue bag. Thirty percent of this is processed here into a high-quality consumer product,” explains Chantal Saelens.

The family business is investing 35 million euros in the new location, which employs about eighty people.
