Moderator leaves DAZN after eight years

Alex Schlüter is one of the most famous faces at DAZN. But in the future the presenter will be seen on another channel.

Sports presenter Alex Schlüter is leaving the streaming channel DAZN at the end of the season. t-online can confirm a corresponding report from the industry service “DWDL”. The 38-year-old journalist has been working for DAZN since 2016, mostly appearing as a presenter and occasionally as a commentator.

According to t-online information, Schlüter is moving to Amazon Prime Video, where he will also be seen as a presenter. Schlüter himself has not yet spoken out and could not be reached for a comment by “DWDL”.

What’s next for his podcast?

Schlüter is one of the channel’s best-known faces and is an integral part of the team that plays in the Bundesliga and Champions League. The 38-year-old was also seen on the sidelines of the SC Freiburg game against FC Bayern Munich (2:2) last Friday. The station’s other presenters include Laura Wontorra and Freddy Harder.

Schlüter, who was born in Lower Saxony, also moderated the “Decoded” format, in which DAZN explains the behavior and patterns of individual players or teams with the help of experts such as coach Ralf Rangnick or ex-national striker Nils Petersen.

Schlüter can’t just be seen on TV, he can also be heard. Together with Benni Zander he moderates the podcast “Kicker meets DAZN”, which the streaming service produces together with the sports magazine “Kicker”. In it, Zander and Schlüter discuss the Bundesliga match day and regularly interview people from the football business. It is not yet known what will happen to the podcast after the summer.
