MVV Maastricht has lost the away match at FC Den Bosch. In De Vliert, the home team beat Klaas Wels’ team 3-1.
Due to the defeat, MVV drops further in the ranking of the Kitchen Champion Division.
crossing
MVV started with the same line-up as in the lost home match against NAC Breda. Trainer Klaas Wels had confidence in his starting line-up and saw that Den Bosch got the first chance of the match through Ryan Leijten. Moments later, MVV also had the first opportunity after a good attack. Sven Blummel saw a placed shot go wide.
After 18 minutes, the Brabants took the lead. Soufyan Ahannach was handed the ball, did not hesitate for a moment and shot the ball hard and untenable into the intersection: 1-0.
Few chances
With that, Den Bosch put an end to a goal drought. Jack de Gier’s team had not scored a goal since the end of January. After that, a game ensued in which neither team was able to create many chances. The 2-0 for FC Den Bosch came out of the blue. A mistake in the build-up meant that Ahannach was able to intercept the ball. He passed Matthys and shot the ball against the ropes: 2-0. It was also the rest position.
Attacking Substitution
Wels decided at the start of the second half to make an attacking substitution. Defender Elano Yegen was replaced by attacker Arian Kastrati. Nevertheless, it was Den Bosch that shot out of the starting blocks. Ahannach had several opportunities on his third goal of the evening.
After that, MVV crawled out of the shell a bit more and appeared more often in front of the goal of Den Bosch goalkeeper Wouter van der Steen. A free kick by Sven Blummel, who played for Den Bosch between 2017 and 2019, was saved by Van der Steen and several corner kicks did bring danger, but no connection goal for the people of Maastricht.
Matching goal
Midway through the second half, MVV came back into the game. Den Bosch was sloppy in defense, so MVV intercepted the ball and Blummel was able to score the 2-1 in the far corner. As a result, the belief in a result was completely back with the Wels team. In the meantime, Den Bosch was looking for a bigger lead again, but Matthys stood in the way with a punt by Nikolaj Möller and a free kick by Ahannach.
Final phase
Despite the fact that it was MVV that had to look for the equalizer, it was Den Bosch that got the opportunities in the final phase. Torino Hunte, former player of VVV-Venlo, shot just over Matthys’ goal. Then MVV got the chance to equalize. Mart Remans seemed to be able to head the ball in, but the ball went wide.
Looking for the equalizer, MVV got the lid on the nose in injury time. On a cross from Barry Maguire, substitute Mohamed Berte headed in the 3-1, so that FC Den Bosch won a match for the first time since November.
Ranking
Due to the defeat, MVV drops to the penultimate place in the Kitchen Champion Division in the ranking. The next game awaits next Monday. Then Jong AZ comes to visit De Geusselt.
