Modefabriek in Amsterdam wants to become more international – without a section for men’s fashion

At the upcoming edition of the Modefabriek fashion fair, there will no longer be a separate section for men’s fashion. From now on, the focus of the event will be on women’s fashion and an international orientation, explained Modefabriek Managing Director Caroline Krouwels to the trade magazine Textilia.

The news is somewhat unexpected. Because actually there was a comprehensive plan for the design of a new one Men’s Department. For example, interior designer Twan van de Laar was tasked with designing the layout.

However, Krouwels would like to draw a line in the men’s fashion sector. This is partly due to the growth of the men’s fashion fair Preview Men in Nieuwegein. “The fair is experiencing enormous growth as a platform for men’s fashion and we wish it every success,” she explains in an interview with Textilia. “We want to continue to see menswear as part of Modefabriek, but in combination with womenswear. We have now made that choice. That way we have a bigger platform and reach, which in turn comes at a different price.”

Fashion brands presenting both men’s and women’s collections will be given a space in Hall A, where like-minded brands with the same style will be exhibiting.

The fashion fair is now concentrating on women’s fashion, especially in the higher price segment. The children’s fashion segment is also being expanded and internationalization is to be promoted through the participation of more international brands. An important development, says Krouwels, as the number of Scandinavian and Italian brands at the fair is growing, and buyers from Germany and Belgium are also increasingly visiting the fair.

The next edition of Modefabriek will take place on July 9th and 10th.
