One is Gooise Willem. He has been organizing the traditional square party in the Spreeuwpark in the Vogelbuurt for years. There today quite a few prospective folk singers performed, and of course also Gooise Willem himself.
“People are actually behind the windows all year round and this is really the day that everyone comes out with the mobility scooter,” says Joyce, who organizes the neighborhood party together with Willem. “We are always comfortable with each other. The scooter club in Amsterdam-Noord,” says a Noordeling laughing from his mobility scooter.
Cancellation
Not everything went smoothly at the square party. For a moment there was stress when an artist did not show up. But Willem stood for hotter fires and solved it by having his grandson Ryan start a little earlier. And of course Willem himself could not be missing on stage. He sang his favorite song, the village of Wim Sonneveld.
Eventually everything worked out well and it was a good fifteenth edition of the Pleinfeest. “You wake up nice music that,” says a woman who has experienced all the editions.
