Tim Wellens was clearly the strongest in the Tour de France on Sunday. The Belgian champion of UAE Team Emirates won the fifteenth ride after a solo of no less than 42 kilometers. Yet Quinn Simmons saw that slightly different. “He was the strongest rider at the best moment behind the motorcycle,” said the American ITV Cycling.

According to Simmons, Wellens was helped considerably by the TV engine that rode in front of the leading group when the Belgian came on. “Have you not seen that on TV? It is not the first time this Tour happens. You know something like that can happen. Sometimes you take advantage of it, but someone else is helped more often.”

“We knew that such a moment was coming. Tim Koos really a very good time, and then you have to be very strong – because he doesn’t just get it as a gift, but it’s a factor that has a lot of influence.”

“You have to find a way to be the rider who hits the gap, because then you’re gone,” Simmons still said. Exactly the council that Welens Welens had for the American. “Then he should have attacked himself. Then he could drive behind the motorcycle. I didn’t get much help by the way.”
