Was without a club
Martín Cáceres (35) is moving away from Europe after 15 years. The Uruguayan international has found a new club in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles Galaxy after his contract with UD Levante ended. As the US club announced, the defender signed a contract until the end of 2022 with an option for another year.
Cáceres left his homeland for Villarreal in 2007 at the age of 20 and then played for ten other clubs in Europe, including top clubs like FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin. At Barça, he reached his highest market value of €10m in 2008, today it’s €900,000, making him the most valuable central defender at Los Angeles Galaxy. The California team currently ranks seventh in the Western Conference after playing 25 games, which would be enough to qualify for the playoffs.
