A new, as yet unnamed single will be released on July 26th as the first teaser.
Singer-songwriter Mitski has announced a new album. The play will be titled THE LAND IS INHOSPITABLE AND SO ARE WE. A first foretaste will also appear this week.
On Sunday (July 23), in the middle of the night, Mitski addressed her fans in a newsletter. To everyone’s surprise, it included an audio message from the singer herself. In it she announced her seventh studio album with the words: “Hi, this is Mitski and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where I’m recording my upcoming new album. It’s called THE LAND IS INHOSPITABLE AND SO ARE WE and the first single is out on Wednesday [26. Juli] out of here.”

The American with Japanese roots did not give any further information about her new work. Even the name of the new single remained a secret. But fans can probably look forward to a musical highlight again, as with the previous Mitski albums. Her 2018 work BE THE COWBOY received four and a half stars from ME editor Annett Scheffel. Last year’s release, LAUREL HELL, also made it onto ME’s Albums of the Week list.
