Mitch Apau is the captain of Telstar this season. “From day one, Mitch was busy with organization. He is a boy who can translate things very well to the group of players. An ideal boy,” says Telstar coach Mike Snoei about the choice to appoint Mitch Apau as his captain this season.
At 33 years old, Apau is the oldest player at Telstar this season. He was not surprised when Snoei asked him if he wanted to be captain this season. “He already asked me last year and I like to do it for the team. I said that if the team wants it, I will do it,” said Apau.
The resident of Amsterdam wears the captain’s armband this season, but remains sober. His fellow players also treat him no differently now that he is captain. “Not at all. I was even disappointed. Players like Koeman jr. just piss me off more. But as long as it’s funny and fun, I don’t mind,” says Apau with a laugh.
