You can probably count on one hand the number of times Mitch Apau has scored the winning goal in his storied career. Against TOP Oss, the Telstar captain was finally the celebrated man thanks to his late goal. “Three points is really nice.”
“Mitch Apau is going home soon, because Mitch Apau is tired,” the central defender responds to the question of how he will celebrate the win. “We have to play again on Tuesday (in the cup against GVVV, ed.), so I don’t think there will be much celebrating.”
“Especially in a week like this. A huge discharge”
After five minutes, Apau saw his colleague in the center back Danny Bakker drop out due to a red card. “After that red card you have to switch. Then they of course get a few chances. But I have to say that they were actually not very dangerous,” said Apau about Telstar’s solid defense.

Mike Snoei couldn’t believe his luck after the win in injury time. “Especially in a week like this. A huge relief,” says the Telstar trainer due to the absence of four players for wearing a rainbow shirt. “The whole message of the rainbow has taken even more shape. Two aspects in particular: ‘together’ and ‘connecting’. The audience really helped us get through those last minutes.”
