The Ukrainian Serhii has finally made himself heard – Delivered

Last Thursday, Sergii was reported missing to the police. Since the Vis family dropped him off at the Van der Valk hotel in Hoorn – on May 9 – there has been no trace of the Ukrainian. He would be picked up a day later by his brother to go to Frankfurt, but he later turned out to know nothing.

Bianca, Paul and daughter Iris were concerned and have been in frequent contact with him in recent weeks. They started a search in Hoorn and the surrounding area, but it remained silent. See you Monday afternoon. Bianca: “Last Sunday was his birthday, he turned 25. So I sent him a message anyway, via Instagram. As I have done so often lately.”

Ping! To her surprise, Serhii did respond. Finally a sign of life. ‘Thank you Bianca. I’m in Belgium, I’m fine’he sent. With below the link of the article by NH News about his disappearance. For a moment Bianca wonders if it really is ‘their’ Sergii, but the ‘have a nice evening’ feels like confirmation. “That’s what he always said to us.”

Bianca has informed the police about the contact with Serhii.

Serhii’s words bring relief, but also question marks. “He says he is building a new life in Belgium. He has also said that he will visit us in two weeks to explain everything. We wonder if he is really in Belgium. He says to his parents and brother that he is just in the Netherlands.”

doubt

The doubt is additionally fed by various tips that the Vis family received. Serhii would have been seen in recent days at Lidl and the adjacent Juliana Park in Hoorn. Bianca went to have a look. “We have not found him, but it is of course looking for a needle in a haystack. We have the feeling that he is not in Belgium at all, but still lives near Hoorn. So if people have tips, we will receive them. that one, please.”

The war in his homeland could be the reason for his flight. “Maybe he’s confused, or traumatized. He was always on the dark web during breaks for new information about the war. We hope he comes back to us in spite of everything, because he’s just a nice guy.”
