Missing former football player Mark van den Boogaart found again after a month | Dutch football

Former football player Mark van den Boogaart (37) has been found again. The former player of NEC, among others, has been missing since January 6, but has now been reunited with his two children.

An acquaintance of Van den Boogaart informs this Heart of the Netherlands and was also confirmed by the police. However, there are still many question marks surrounding his disappearance. Since Van den Bogaart did not return from an appointment on January 6, nothing was heard from the former midfielder, who left with only his passport in his pocket. It was suspected that he might be in Spain, where he still had many contacts from his football life. The police were aware of the missing person, but decided not to take any action at the beginning of January.

His ex-girlfriend Myrthe said after the disappearance that Van den Boogaart had been struggling with mental problems for some time. ,,There are of course certain risks and fears as a family. This was a fear we had for a long time, that he would disappear from the picture,” she said.

Van den Boogaart started his career at Feyenoord and then moved to Seville. After his return from Spain, Van den Boogaart signed a contract with NEC in 2007, where he did not play much due to injuries. Later he played, among other things, with the amateurs of Rijnsburgse Boys, where he was captain between 2012 and 2015.
