The National Anti-Doping Agency Germany, in short: NADA, is investigating the Ulm basketball player Karim Jallow. NADA confirmed this to SWR.
Top athletes like Karim Jallow are obliged to use an app to indicate their whereabouts in order to be available for surprise doping controls. However, the basketball player did not comply – apparently he eluded the inspectors three times within twelve months. This is the limit for NADA to initiate anti-doping rule violation proceedings. And this is completely independent of the possible consumption of doping substances. For Jallow, failing to check could result in a ban that lasts up to two years. Upon request, NADA confirmed the investigations on Tuesday afternoon, but did not want to comment further on the ongoing proceedings.
Surprisingly, Ulm became German champions for the first time last season. On the way to the title the underdog won his playoff series against the favourites Alba Berlin, Bayern Munich and Telekom Baskets Bonn. Jallow played his part with strong performances.
