De Armas, who died on Friday, October 13, had been suffering from endometrial cancer for two years.
De Armas was crowned Miss Uruguay in 2015. She represented her country in the Miss World pageant that year, but did not make it to the top 30. At the time, 18-year-old de Armas was one of the youngest participants in the competition.
Along with her modeling career, de Armas did volunteer work with childhood cancer research.
