Berlin resident and mother of two children, Apameh Schönauer is architect and it’s aactivist for women’s rights (she founded the Shirzan network which supports those in difficulty or living in disadvantaged conditions). She was born in Tehran 39 years ago: when she was only six years old she fled her country with her family: “We went to live in Germany so that my sister and I could live in freedom. It wasn’t an easy journey.”
She has lived in Germany for 33 years and now feels like a German citizen, even if she does not deny her origins, combining German traditions with those of her native country. After having won the title, but also the 25 thousand euro prize offered by the competition, he did not expect all these controversies. Above all, she didn’t imagine that so many insults would rain down on her.

Apameh Schönauer was crowned Miss Germany 2024 at Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort. After a few hours the social media were inundated with criticism for his election. “I expected reactions like this, but not to this extent”: this was the immediate comment of the architect who received a real wave of hatred, including threats and harassment.
Lisa Paussminister of the German Green Family, is instead happy with the jury’s choice: “It is certainly positive that the competition has changed so much.
