2018 Miss Brazil Gleycy Correia has died at the age of only 27. Correia was in a routine operation in April where her tonsils were removed. Five days after surgery, Correia suffered from severe bleeding and went into a coma for more than two months.
Correia did not regain consciousness. He died on Monday of kidney failure.
In 2018, Correia was crowned both Miss Costa do Sol and Miss Brazil. Correia was a model, cosmetologist and social media influencer with more than 56,000 followers on Instagram. Correia worked for the Church and especially for women with breast cancer.
– We are deeply sorry for the loss, the family pastor commented The Washington Postille.
Correia was buried on Tuesday.
Removal of tonsils is a common procedure. The most common causes of surgery are often recurrent or prolonged pharyngeal infection or symptoms due to overgrowth of the tonsils. Throat surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia by day surgery.
