Stuttgart (dpa) – sports director Sven Mislintat from the Bundesliga soccer team VfB Stuttgart expects striker Sasa Kalajdzic to leave.
“It would be outstanding if we could keep him as a player and as a guy. But in my opinion, that’s not very likely,” Mislintat told “Sport Bild” about the Austrian international, whose contract expires on June 30, 2023.
As the sports broadcaster Sky reported, the second meeting between those responsible for the Bavarian Bundesliga soccer club and Kalajdzic consultant Sascha Empacher is said to have taken place on Wednesday. The day before, FCB sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and Marco Neppe, Bayern’s technical director, are said to have met the management of the 24-year-old Austrian for the first time.
Kalajdzic scored a total of six goals in the past season, in which VfB secured a place in the league thanks to a goal by the 24-year-old on the final day. Among others, FC Bayern Munich should also be interested. “Of course” Kalajdzic has what it takes to assert himself at top clubs, said Mislintat. “Sasa showed in last year’s season, in the second half of the season and at the European Championships, that he is one of the absolute top center strikers in Europe.”
A fee for Kalajdzic is estimated at up to 25 million euros. The attacker recently told the Viennese “Kronen Zeitung” that although there were no concrete offers yet, he would hold talks with VfB and his advisor Sascha Empacher in the coming days.
