Tube player and actress Miska Haakana is a guest in Roope Salminen’s latest Three turning points in an episode of the podcast. You can listen to the podcast on Podme.

Haakana’s second turning point is a topic he rarely talks about. It is the death of his mother.

Haakana openly says that her mother died of a brain tumor when Haakana was only 12 years old. Mother was treated for the tumor for a few years, with varying results, so her passing did not come as a surprise to Haakana.

Mother died during the Christmas holidays.

– I returned to school and the teacher pulled me into the corridor. He said that: “I am sorry that this has happened. Do you want us to somehow talk about this among the class and somehow inform people”. I just replied that you don’t have to. Let it be and everything is fine.

Haakana, who is also known as a comedian, was the laughingstock of the class from a young age, so talking about a serious topic seemed like an uncomfortable topic.

– I’ve always wanted to entertain people by performing something. The fact that I would be put in the limelight because something happened in my personal life. No no…

Haakana didn’t react emotionally at first, even though she was crying. His first reaction was physical. Haakana had a severe migraine attack the same day after her mother’s death. Haakana’s whole body hurt and he developed a high fever.

– I got really, really sick. It’s special how spiritual things can affect a person’s mental condition, says Haakana.

After her mother’s death, Haakana had to quickly become independent, but she does not feel that her childhood ended at that moment.

Since 2022, Haakana has played JP Kokko in Salatui eläm. He has also been seen in programs Survivors Finland and Vole.
