Baudet was hit on the head with an object on Monday around 6 p.m. during an election event in café The Cabin on the Gedempte Zuiderdiep in Groningen. The FVD leader suffered a head wound from the attack. He was hit just above his eye and on the back of his head. He was also attacked by a man with an umbrella in Ghent at the end of last month.
On Tuesday, Baudet indicated that he wanted to continue with the campaign, but an FVD meeting in which the results of the House of Representatives elections would be monitored has been canceled for security reasons.
The police were able to arrest the suspect shortly after the incident. The police do not want to say exactly how old the suspect is. The police spokesperson believes it was an underage boy on Wednesday. Various media previously wrote that it concerns a 15-year-old suspect. According to the AD, the anti-fascist group AFA Noord has claimed that the boy belongs to this extreme left group.
