Minna Parika’s shoes for sale to Stockmann

Minna Parika’s shoes are available again, only about a year after the shoe brand stopped.

Fans of bunny ears and lollipop heels hoard an online store inventory at a record pace when a shoe designer Minna Parikka announced the end of autumn 2020. The second-hand shop for Parika’s shoes is also hot, especially in Facebook groups and carefully curated flea markets. The value of the shoes was expected to rise with the closure plan.

Parika’s plans were to retire at the age of 41, but that was not the case.

A creative break of about a year did well, even though Parikka was not completely inactive. There were TV shots and collaborative collections. The Minna Parikka shoe brand is already back, even though the brand had to end. This is an impressive collection together with 160-year-old Stockmann.

The models on sale include familiar shoes that already have a large fan base, but also new models. The bunny sneakers come back in three new colors, each made in just 160, numbered models.

– My personal favorite is the new low-heeled sandal with hand-knotted bunny ears, Parikka says.

Upcoming models have familiar bunnies, fingers, hearts and lollipops, but they have taken on a new look with new colors or designs. According to Parika, the inspiration was found in the history of the brand.

On Friday, February 11, Minna Parika’s pop up store will open in Stockmann’s Helsinki department store and a wide selection of shoes will be available for sale in Stockmann’s online store. On the opening day, you can apply for a signature from the designer yourself.

– The collection was designed together with Stockmann, as was the pop-up store. It’s colorful and delicious, which I got crazy about designing, Parikka says.

Signing can increase the price of shoes

Signing shoes or other fashion products is not a completely new phenomenon in the world, says a shoe expert and cleaning professional Heikki Tanskanen from the Mister Mint in Helsinki.

– The trend stems from street style and sneaker fashion, and from there it has also become part of high fashion, Tanskanen continues.

For example, last fall the cancer died Virgil Abloh, The main designer of Louis Vuitton men and the founder of the Off-White brand, signed the shoes he designed with paint. His insignia was an inscription decorated with quotation marks on the outer edge of the sole of the shoe.

Abloh left behind a major cultural style trend that includes signing and tuning shoes. According to Tanskanen, for example, shoes with Michael Jordan’s signature have been sold at auctions for hundreds of thousands of euros.

No return to the former

Many people remember the Minna Parikka store on Aleksanterinkatu in Helsinki, which bathed in all rainbow colors and glitter.

Minna Parikka fans may dream of a return to character and playfulness in Finnish fashion. However, the couple cram the idea.

– I have no plans after this year. And I have no ambitions to become the boss of a big team again and start trying with a familiar formula. It’s really refreshing to do everything again myself.
