Ministry of Justice is also a customer of Van Lienden company

The Ministry of Justice and Security has also purchased items from Sywert van Lienden’s Relief Goods Alliance. A spokesperson for the department confirms this after a report in the Volkskrant.

It concerns the Custodial Institutions Service, which deals with prisons. A total of around 146,000 euros worth of goods was purchased for this purpose. It concerns 10,000 aprons (for 63,800 euros) and 15,000 self-tests from the Roche brand, for 82,200 euros.

“These contacts were made via the coordination point of VWS by officials from DJI. That contact was not with Mr. Van Lienden himself, but with employees of the Relief Goods Alliance. The ministers were not involved in these agreements,” said the spokesperson.

Van Lienden stated at the time that he got stuff from China without a profit motive. Afterwards, he and his two business partners turn out to have made a million-dollar profit. A criminal investigation into Van Lienden’s actions is still ongoing.
