The certification process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline may drag on until summer, and new sanctions from the United States are not ruled out. About this in an interview “RIA News” said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.

“The regulations of the procedure are such that they allow not even tightening [процесс сертификации «Северного потока-2»], namely, to carry out this consideration in the first, second conditionally instance, stretching it out for many months. . Yes, it can last until the summer, ”he said.

At the same time, Pankin did not rule out that the certification process could be complicated by the United States. “Yes, after that there may be an American sledgehammer – why not imagine that the Americans will tell the Germans not to buy a single gram of Russian gas via Nord Stream? . They can apply anything. That is, intrigues can be at every step, ”the diplomat noted.

He also clarified that all gas contracts with Europe are currently being fulfilled with an excess of 8-10%, and Russia is “not obliged” to supply all gas exclusively through the territory of Ukraine.
