Karien van Gennip, Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, believes that Yvonne Coldeweijer’s much-discussed juice channel is part of a larger movement. “Just look at Russia.”
Yvonne Coldeweijer is once again discredited, this time because she was lured into a trap by BNR and Talitha Muusse in a questionable way. The presenter recorded a video pretending to be snorting cocaine, sent it to Yvonne anonymously and now she shouts in front of every camera how outrageous it is that the juice queen posted it.
Minister about Yvonne
According to Minister Karien van Gennip, it is a worrying development that Yvonne has built up such a large following with the content she distributes. “Look, what you see is: this is one juice channel, but of course you see on a much larger scale, huh…”, says the CDA politician in the talk show HLF8.
She continues: “If you see what information Russia as a government is now spreading about the war in Ukraine, which we also know is not true… There is a lot of disinformation and whether that is with elections, with wars or with situations like this. …”
Role of journalism
Karien believes that good journalism should win. “Journalism has a very important role, to find out what really matters and to really hear each other… Facts on the table, because only in this way can you ensure that people in the Netherlands or throughout the world know exactly what is going on. and that is the role of journalism.”
Fellow table guest Francis van Broekhuizen says that he does not take Yvonne seriously. “Because there is no adversarial hearing. Of course they get things from all kinds of people who are filming in the bushes, but it is also possible that someone is taking paracetamol, for example, isn’t it?”
