The cabinet is making an extra €110 million available to help Ukraine through the winter. This contribution is intended for shelter, the repair of water pipes and houses, and the purchase of gas, food and electricity. Essential things needed to prepare the Ukrainian population for the coming winter. Part of the amount will be used to directly supply parts to repair the damaged energy network in Ukraine. The amount comes on top of the €70 million pledged by the cabinet in October.

Minister Schreinemacher: “We want to show that we stand behind Ukraine. There is only one person responsible for this war and that is Putin. He can stop this war. As long as he continues, we will continue to support Ukraine.”

Dutch financing will go through, among others, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The World Bank and Ukraine previously estimate the cost of preparing Ukraine for next winter at $3.5 billion. This damage has been further increased recently by the Russian attacks.
